What is a Backlink? Is it important for SEO?

The most mentioned term in the SEO process is backlinks. But what is a backlink? Here is a complete description of all things about backlinks.

What is a Backlink is it important for SEO. Some people who have a main website, those who are new to the world of websites/blogs often ask about what a backlink is. Not to mention the next question that asks that "does this backlink have an effect on our blog.

I also initially never knew and did not want to know about what a backlink is. I initially just wrote and posted. Then if I have free time, I visit some blogs / sites both Indian sites and foreign sites to find references to my next writing/posting. After reading the post, I usually write a comment, whether it's a question or just a thank you or admiration. In the comments field, there is a form to write the name, email and site address. And I fill in all that data in each comment (depending on the site).

Unconsciously, it turns out that what I have done is to put a link to the site I visited in the comments field and the link when clicked will lead directly to my blog. And after I started learning about what SEO is, it turns out that I have done one of the SEO techniques that is Off-Page SEO by planting backlinks. And this is what we will discuss in the article SEO Off Page techniques this time.

What is a backlink?

Backlink is a link that is posted/embedded on various websites/other sites and directs it to a website. The function and benefits of backlinks is to increase the ranking of a website in search engines and also able to raise the popularity of blog sites which will certainly increase page rank (PR).

Types of Backlinks

Backlinks are divided into 2 categories, namely:

  • Reciprocal backlink
  • Oneway backlink

Both will be explained in detail below and will also be explained about how to use it in order to be optimized to the maximum and become one of the best SEO factors blog.

As for the type of backlink based on the type of referral is divided into 2 (two), namely dofollow and nofollow backlinks. In this backlink itself more emphasis on quality selection. Where dofollow backlinks are certainly better than nofollow links in the eyes of search engines. If you are still confused about these two types of backlinks themselves. It's a good idea to read TelecomYaar previous post about:

Reciprocal Backlinks

Reciprocal Backlinks are agreement between two webmasters to provide hyperlinks within their own websites to their respective websites. This is generally by to give readers quick access to related sites, or to indicate a partnership between two sites.

Examples of reciprocal links or 2 (two) way backlinks that you can get are:

Directory Submit

Directory Submission/directory submit is one of the oldest link/backlink building strategies known to the internet community. This involves submitting basic information about your website to an internet directory on the submit directory site.

Exchange Link

People like this are probably already using it a lot. Link exchange is one of the most effective ways to create SEO quality backlinks. However, provided that the site being invited to exchange links must be a site with a low level of spam. Because of course this will also be able to affect your own site.

One Way Backlink

One way backlink are backlinks with one direction, in which only you embed the link to the site/blog/website that allows to embed the url of your website without having to include a link back to the website. Here are some examples of One Way Backlink implementations that you may/may not have done before:

Blog Comment

Earlier I explained about my experience when starting to plant backlinks on a blog by using the comment field. In the comments field, we can place a link with the Anchor text method. And of course you have to follow the rules to avoid spamdexing. For the use of Anchor text you should read: Using Anchor Text For SEO Techniques.

Signature Forum

There are some forums that provide a signature feature every time you post, ask or answer something on the forum. And in the signature feature, you can use a link that will automatically be listed on the signature. Unfortunately here I do not write a list of forums that can be used to install a signature link. But I will definitely make a special article for this forum's signature backlink list.

Social Bookmark

Or Social bookmarks are a way for people to store, organize, search, and manage "bookmark" web pages. Users save links to web pages they like or want to share, using social bookmarking sites to store those links. These bookmarks are usually public, and can be seen by other members of the site where they saved the link. Examples of social bookmarking sites include  del.icio.us  and  digg.com .

In fact, some of the above examples I only describe based on the type only, and I really want to list some direct examples that I think will be very helpful to you in building quality backlinks for your website/blog.

And I'm sure after reading this article, you can certainly understand about some common forms/types of baclinks that are often used in the implementation of SEO.

Thus the SEO technique article this time about What is Backlink and Its Effect on SEO. Hopefully useful. Thank you.
